Hello everyone! Has anyone run into this issue? I recently started my RR 4.6 HSE and heard a very loud whistling sound. Also, I noticed that the engine was running very rough. When the whistling stopped the engine sounded fine but I noticed the service engine light had come on. This is the second time this has happened. Any help would be appreciated.

This may sound stupid but, when you say intake. Is there a way that I can test for that or do I need to take it in. I would like to try to fix it myself if possible so I do not have to pay an arm for the service.
Thanks for the help. |

I would buy some carb cleaner and spray it around the places the intake manifold fasten together and to the heads. My guess it is one of the really thin gaskets that are used there. I have had them act like the blade of grass between your thumbs when you blow across it. when the metal is getting warm it is closing the gaps. You might just want to try to tighten everything that looks like it is fastening the intake to the heads and to itself. if yours is only happening when cold.....you probably don't have a lot of time to spray cleaner around. good Luck
