Hey everyone,
I'm not sure if everyone has the same problem as me, but on my P38 the door pillars and headliner look like shit. It's probably my fault, or the previous owners for not taking care of it, but now I have finally decided to do something about it. Today I took out the headliner (not an easy task) along with all of the door pillars to redo them. While I have everything off is there anything i should check out? I already made sure their were no cracks in the rain gutters and checked the lights and wires to make sure nothing was damaged. I enclosed some pictures of the bare ceiling (the extra wires hanging down are for my overhead monitors) and also the ratty condition that the interior was in. I also included some pictures of the A and B pillars which i have already resueded, but need to trim. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know! I'll be sure to post pictures of the finished project once I get it done! ![]()

Haha, nice. I know what you mean thou. When I drive in the summer I like to leave all the windows open, and obviously this pulls the headliner down in about the same spot as yours is. And those pillars suck!! I was thinking about rhino coating them!
Nice work however, and goodluck getting it back togeather! |

While you are in there, make sure your sunroof drains are clear.
What does the headliner "cardboard" look like? Do you think one could pull the fabric off, rub it down, then paint it if one wanted to? |

wow mine didn't quite look like that. Maybe you got water on it? Meanwhile I still haven't finished mine, most of it is up, but I need to put the pillars in. It'll be done tomorrow though. As for the paint, I'm not sure if paint will work. Its a porous material so I would think there would be some problem. Maybe if you can cover it first or somehow seal it and than paint it????

you have to scrape all the foam crud off otherwise as skippy3k points out it wont work. the headliner foam, not the glue, is what breaks down. so if you adhere a new headliner to the old foam, after time the weight of the fabric will just pull the foam apart again and it will sag.
