Sos!!mystery Leak_help - Land Rovers Only

Was cleaning my 2000 RR and discovered that the rug on the passenger side front was soaked. Could not find a leak anywhere and not sure but I think the liquid isn't water. Can anyone direct me and help figure this out?

check the wiring rubber gromets for cracks/missing in the footwell. get unerneath and do a visual - this is usually symptomatic of water entering through these holes. if not try airconditioner and other areas in th efirewall. you can seal with synthetic caulk

On our '99 4.6 we had some bright orange liquid in the passenger footwell up under the glovebox. Heater core needed to be replaced. Inexpensive parts, but a hell of a lot of labor. I was told that the shop labor number is about 8 hours. Luckily we have a Land Rover Assured warranty that covered it.

As an added bonus, after taking the entire dash out of the car, it was put back together tightly, and there are no more squesks or rattles in the front of the car.

Good luck, but if you are out of warranty and cannot get a goodwill fix, I think you are looking at over $1000 USD to get it fixed. An independent may do better.

The color is kinda brownish however the consistancy("feel") is similar to a really thin brake fluid or a hydrolic fluid. And the strangest part is that the rug against the firewall and the transmission tunnel are not wet-it's the area closest to the BeCm and near the door seal that is wet. However, I have kept the car out of wet weather and it still continues to grow wetter. I'm baffled

I have the same problem, and was told by the dealer that there are two little O-rings on the heater core that wear out. They cause the leak.

Your all probably right-unfortunately

I checked behind the dash(with the glove box out) and didn't see or feel any wetness. Oh well, I suppose its time to get new O rings.

Just to confirm you have had a core leak, check that you have been losing coolent water if not check all your liquids in the car including the automatic transmission oil.
