Default Steering wheel pull?

So my wife's P38 has this problem; steering wheel seems naturally aligned off-set to the left, and the sterring pulls. Two questions then:

Is this just an alignment issue? And is it as easy to adjust as the RAVE CD shows?

I'd love to take care of this in the garage but am a little unsure. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks-

Dave

I had a similar problem when I first got my P38.
I wound up fixing the problem by adjusting the steering box.
Although a standard wheel alingment could be your problem (which I would check that first), but adjusting the steering box should make a big difference.

There's actually a method:

get in a flat spot, and pull backwards and fowards about 10'+ several times untill you're absolutely sure the front tires are straight.
Lift up the front end of the vehicle, with both front wheels off the ground.
Then loosen the lock nut on top of the steering box, then tighten the adjustment screw underneath it. It only takes small adjustments to make corrections, and also when you tighten the lock nut down, it will also move the adjustment screw a small amount. Before you lower the vehicle back down, turn the steering wheel full lock to lock (left/right) to make sure there's no binding.. Making sure everything's tight, drop the vehicle back down, go for a ride, and see if that fixed it.
Good luck, and hope this helps.

Check the steering stabalizer. That might be shot and if is could cause that problem.

actually you can adjust the steering wheel yourself.

just loosen up the adjustment and then drive down the road to see if it is straight. and adjust accordingly.
