I have recently bought a 2000 P38 which so far has been great. Only problem currently is after a carwash, i can hear water moving overhead, and seems i can hear it pouring down through the body work. Presumably through the A-Pillar. It then exits into the passenger footwell, leaking from the vents directly under the glovebox.
I suspected the right sunroof drain so I put a fishing weight on a string and lowered it down the drain tube. It exits as expected from the drain tube just behind the right front wheel. I attached a cotton coth to the string and pulled it back through the tube without getting caught anywhere, and it came out completely clean. Removing the a pillar trim piece I can see the drain tube appears intact all the way along the pillar. So at this point I tend to rule out the drain tube. Is it possible water is getting in along the widshield and getting into the A pillar? There is no water anywhere except on the floor... Is there any other passageway (besides the drain tube hole) between the sunroof and the A pillar which could explain water getting into the A pillar? Please help me fix this before i get mold and a my new Range Rover starts to smell badly...

Besides sunroof drain tubes, I would advise you to also check the covering of the AC Filters, they may look ok but a slight opening is enough for the water to leak in.
I dont know which side the problem occurs but remove the AC Filter Covers, if the filter or filters are wet there is your problem, use some sort of seal to tighten the covers and if thats the problem it should be fixed... |

could it be the pollen filter covers if the sound seems to be coming from above the passenger?
My thinking is its most likely either a) the drain tube is disconnected where it should be joining the sunroof, which I am discounting bc i was able to run a lead weight on a line down the drain tube all the way and pull it all the way back through without any trouble - i.e. i could literally see the weight in the tube once i removed the a-pillar trim and looked into the a pillar. or b) it could be around the windshield, but honestly i really hear water above the passenger's head. and if you hit the breaks, you can hear water running faster, which says to me, its water overhead, that flows toward the front under the force of breaking, and should be going down that drain tube, but for some reason isn't. or c) and this is now where I regret I am leaning, a friend of mine has advised it may be a gasket or seal around the sunroof, which means i'm going to need to remove the headliner :-(. doing so i could check the position of all four drain tubes, but i dont want to take out the headliner unless/until i have to. what do you guys think about theory 'c' above?
