Default window not set plus bad noise

Window lift suddenly made a bad, loud, rattling/ratcheting noise and the door literally seemed to shake. "LH Window Not Set" is proudly displaying in the message center. Son of a b$tch.

Does this mean I need a new regulator or is it possibly some relatively cheap and easy problem to fix like a maybe a gear with stripped teeth?

THanks for any wisdom.

Many times - I own a LR repair shop,we just replace the reg as its not worth the hassle if the repair fails.

thanks man. right now the window is going up and down well - it just makes that terrible noise. so i guess i should replace the regulator before it really breaks and leaves me in a bad way. thanks for the advice.

Unfortunately this is a very common issue. Classics don't seem to have this issue nearly as often.
