Default 03 Disco Engine Noise

Looking for information or bullitens about engine noises in the 03 Discoverys. Have an 03 that sounds to have a rod or piston pin knock on acceleration.

The 03's had some issues with oil pumps- usually they just go kaboom. If it is under warranty, have them take a look at it. My 04 always rattled like a diesel...

As does my 03. I WISH it was a diesel not just sound like one.
I put some injector cleaner in and ran a couple of tanks of 91 proof through her.
And I switched to Castrol 20w50 for my oil.

The engine was already exchanged in this Disco, noise started during a 2k mile trip, going to put AMS Oil in it next oil change. Anyone know about the bullitens covering this information? If nothing else I have a direction to go in......Thanks guys for the info

Genereally if its making noise all the time then you should probably check the oil. The Disco benefits from oil changes every 3k, if you try to follow the service interval from the manual you're going to end up in trouble. I haven't tried synthetic. Manual calls for 10W40 Castrol but says 10W30 is fine too. In my '04 when it started tapping all the time the dealer said it needed a quart of oil. Now it taps just on start up, not sure if it will ever go away but I want to try that 10W40, and synthetic seems too expensive to run through the engine every 3k.

Steve, don't mess with the engine, take it back to Rover and let them deal with it under warranty.
