Default '04 DII for LR3?

So I was driving home for lunch and my wife and I were talking about things we need to get done. I mentined to her that the time is coming soon where I'll want to extend the warranty on the Disco to 100k miles. Then she says something quite unexpected...Are you sure you just don't want to get an LR3 instead. Caught me totally off guard.
I hadn't given it too much though before now I'm entertaining the idea and checking the budget. I'm just not quite sure. The Disco is lovely. The LR3 is interesting. I know that she enjoyed the Loaners LR3's when we get them, bu they are both so nice.
Before I accused the LR3 of lacking soul. After I brought my son home for the first time in an LR3 I've looked at it differently. The Disco does not apologize for what it is. Turn the key and that V8 roars to life. The LR3 very refined. Hardly any wind noise at crusing speed and it's got all the little things you wouldn't notice during a test drive during the middle of the day like waterfall lighting on the controls. Of course it doesn't rattle, but the Disco is not that bad either. There is more room to streach out in the LR3, but the Disco Fits like a glove, tailor made. I'm torn.

I would keep the D2, too many problems with the LR3's still, I'd wait at least another year and see if Ford can clean up the LR3 to make it a good replacement for your Disco, and being an 04 it should be holding a half decent resale still.

Yeah, my wife would say (dripping with sarcasm) "Oh, I guess we should just get an LR3."

As far as trading in a 2004 Disco for an LR3... I don't think I would. There will be new LR3s available for the next ten years. There will never be another new Disco

The catch is I can have one or the other right now. I Just did a quick drive approx. 2hr drive 173miles. I like the Disco too much to give it up. It's smooth, no hunting for gears. It's really hard to find anything bad to say about the Disco except for not having a Navigation System or a DVD player for the little one, but the aftermarket solutions are much better anyway. I think that after we go to the dealer event in October she will change her mind. I think I will probably be the only DII there. Yeah I'm taking pics. The strange this is that you have to have someone from the dealership ride shotgun with you but from what I understand they all want to ride in the DII. We'll see what happens. If I make any friends I have two more LRO stickers I can give away. There is already one on the Disco.

I would keep the Discovery too. The LR3 is a very nice truck. but the Disco it seem to be very popular among wheelers and moms. Take some pictures too I would like your Discovery wheeling it.

I was in the same boat 5 months ago. I was looking at the LR3 after I got to drive one for 2 days when my 04 Disco was in the shop. I am glad I did not get one. It seams that Rover is still working out some bugs. The dealer was going to give me only $18,000.00 for a trade in. And I thought it was a rip off. The other thing that put me off is that Disco Mike said he would not talk to me any more I would wait for when the 07 start to roll in and the dealers will try harder to get rid of the 06's

I think the Disco is safe but our Pathfinder is now on the chopping block.
