Default 1st to 2nd shift

A while back I complained about : "difficulty in gear change fro 1st - 2nd - more so when cold...Was looked at on 20 00km...gearbox oil was said to low...filled by LR.....no improvement. Asked if it could be the trust washer in the 1-2 synchro assembly, splitting in half and blocking the movement?."

Welll.... 40 000k service...after almost beating an answer out of them...mechanic said loose spring and replaced gearlever spring. Service manager says..."as per the Discovery II's this is normal -there will be a clunk noise between 1st and 2nd..The dealership can replace the syncro's under warranty , but it will be the same as afterwards..."

Go figure....not to sure if I like that answer...
