Question 2000 Disco 2 Tail lights

Hello, just asking for a lil' help. I believe that the tail lights are associated w/ a relay in the Engine fuse box. Unfortunately the owner's manual does not address relays. It addresses only the fuses. Help please on this issue???:

Hey Rob,

Can you let us know what the issue is and maybe someone more experienced can chime in and give you places to look? Are you without any tail lights right now?

Yes. I have headlights & breaklights, but no tail lights. I believe this to be a relay in the Engine Fuse box. Is this correct??? My manual has no mention of relay or switch, but you see them when you open the fuse box. You know those Yellow plugs-of-amjig.

Throwing around multi-syllabic fancy words like that will get you nowhere...

Ill have a look and see if I can dig something up if someone with more dirt under their nails doesnt pipe in soon.

i could not find a relay for the tail lights. let me ask this. when you turn the light switch to position 1 (tail lights only). do your marker lights up front (in turn signal lens) come on? if so it might be something the rear causing the problem. if they do not, i'm thinking head light switch going to crap.

The signal lights operate, but they are on a different level. I agree w/ your assessment about the headlight switch. I hear it's common w/ Disco2s.

Relay/fuse is a good start, keep in mind there is a brake switch that may come into play. Let me dig some.

In the meantime, I would suggest everyone go download this file - DII Resource Manual - land_rover service manual it will be valuable even outside of this dicussion.
