Default 2002 Disco II Rear Brakes

Last evening the Disco II was borrowed for an hour, this morning there is a terrible brake grinding noise on the Left Rear. I check it out and come to find that that pad must of BROKE and the rotor is all scoured. Could this been cause by the "friend" driving with the e-brake on and cause the pad to heat up? Are there any tricks to changing the rear brakes/rotor? Thanks for your help.

Brent.

The ebrake being left on will do nothing to the rear brake pads as it locks the drum behind the transfer case.

No real tricks to the change it's somewhat involved to change a rotor but the pads are a quick easy fix I can do mine on the RRC without pulling the caliper.

Just takes time then to change the Rotor. Any special tools? I have an ample amount of metric wrenches and sockets. Thanks for the information.

First where will you be ordering your rotors and pads from, Atlantic British or someone that deals only with Rover would be a good place to go.
As for the tools, a #4 hex nut driver on a handle held impact tool will most likely be need. Do a full bleed, apx 3 pints of DOT 4, when you are done, also use losts of sound deadening spray.

Disco Mike and Army Rover thanks for the information. Mike I got the rotor and pads from Advanced Auto. Wagner stuff so I think I should be ok. The little lady needed her wheels. I found that on the area of the casting where the pads "float" there was tar or something there not letting the pad float. Completely wore the outside pad away. Seems good now. Up next tearing into the rear lock the remote will not unlock the tailgate. You can hear the motor try just does not have enough power.

Thanks again.
