Question Is a 2003 Disco a good buy?

I have heard horror stories about the oil pump/engine failure on 2003 models. I am currently looking at a sharp 2003 Discovery for $5500. It has 90k miles, new o2 sensors and all maintance performed at the local dealership.

Truck looks very clean and the, supposed, reason for sale is that they have a BMW X5 and they are beamer people. They probably can't afford the gas bill for it...?

Do I want this truck, or will it be a maintance nightmare? I currently have a 95 Discovery, but after hitting 220k miles it is going fast. I am working on it nearly daily. New problem everyday. Thanks.

Has it had the 90k maintenance??? That's costly, either money if you have someone else do it, or time if you do it your self (but you save a ton of money)...

I have an '03 and have some bugs with it, but it ahs been a good truck...

Check the VIN and compare it to the TSB range... If it's going to be a daily driver and rarely hit the dirt, I say go for it... Try and get them to come down some more... Go as far as talking to the Dealer since they have serviced it...

Doe sit have ACE or SLS?

I have a 03 with 88k and have never had a issue, the dealership just told me after I started changing the oil to use LR filters ONLY and to fill the filter full.
