HI all. I've been looking for a rotoflex elimination for my 04 disco. Atlantic British has them for 03 and older. Does any one know what changed for the 04? Any leads on a flange and other needed parts for my truck? I was thinking of going with a Tom Woods shafts but from their site they expect you to source your own flange. Thanks!
I emailed Tom Woods and got a reply. While they seem to recommend the rotoflex elimination they don't sell the parts to do it. He said he would have pointed me to AB. I might give them a call and see if someone knows why the kit listed for 03 won't work for my 04. Thanks.
'03-'04 have the same parts, it would be a typo. If that concerned, why not call AB & ask about it? Regardless, it doesn't matter; the 4-bolt pinion flange that you need to run a Ujoint rear DS is nothing but a standard D1 pinion flange. You remove your stock D2, 3-bolt pinion flange and install a D1, 4-bolt that you can get anywhere---nothing special about it. AB is actually the last place I would shop for that part. Just get in touch with 1 of the many members in the recycling & used parts resale business and get what you need for a bargain. There are no special specs' behind the pinion flange; a lot of LR parts for pre-2004 MY are interchangeable. It's not so much an elimination kit as it is a swap kit.
Thanks. This is what I suspected. I did email AB asking about a kit for 04. Reply said they don't carry one. I suspect someone who didn't know what they were talking about just gave me an answer based on the typo in their part description. And sorry, I double checked their site. The flange they have is listed for 99 - 02. Not that there is likely a difference.
I have seen once or twice where members market the D1 driveshaft and 4-bolt pinion flange as an upgrade/replacement for the D2 in classifieds. There is a slight difference in the length of transmissions but I know of someone that might be able to confirm this so I will give him a shout real quick.
