Default 45K mile service question

I have a 2002 Land Rover Discovery II that is at about 44K so I am beginning to think about the 45K mile service. Anyone have cost estimates from dealerships? Also my wifes uncle is a mechanic and does good work, he has taken care of my commuter Jetta VR6 and done a great job, but he doesn't have much experience on Land Rovers. What does the 45K mile service consist of? Is this something that needs to be done by a LR specialist or something that ny good mecahnic can take care of?

45k is free. And there ain't much to it either.
Take it to the dealer. At 45k my dealer found a bunch of problems I couldn't have until they completely failed. Like the Master Brake Cylinder.
I had a spongy pedal and they replaced the MBC.

Haven't you been having the dealer do their free services on your truck, if not you missed out big time?
The 45K is free, some fluid, lots of inspection, a new serpentine belt and a chance to have them crawl all over your truck while it is still in warranty.

I don't think it's under warranty anymore. The vehicle is 4 years 6 months old now, and I was under the impression that the warranty period for service was 4 years or 45K miles, I am under the mileage limit but over the age limit so I thought that made my free service no longer valid.

Anyone ever priced out that particular service?

If i had taken it in before the warranty lapsed it only would have had about 37K miles on it. Would they have perforemd the 45K mile service under warranty if it only had 38K miles? Anyway I do have the certified pre-owned warranty that covers the powertrain until May 2007 but it does not cover service. If its' something you could walk me through, I'm sure my wife's uncle could do the job, he has a good reputation as a mechanic. Thank you for the offer though.
