Everyone makes it through, I made it through the first level, then the lights came on during the middle of the second level. What happens next is a nightmare. I tried to keep my momentum but somehow I get stuck when one wheel loses traction. All the power is transferred to that one wheel and the rest are stationary. Needless to say whenever this happens I had to be strapped or winched up to complete the trail. You might say that's the way traction control works. correct me if I'm wrong, but somehow I was under the impression that TC was suppose to transfer "most" of the power to the slipping wheel but somehow I don't recall that the other three will meanwhile remain stationary. Anyhow, enough about my experience.
Dude, that is a nighmare
I think that whole situation is good justification for anyone who plans on wheeling their DII to do the CDL modification. At least you'd still have a four wheel drive if your T/C goes FUBAR.
Another point--locking the CDL definately takes some of the burden off of the T/C system when you're off-roading. My T/C light comes on a lot less frequently with the diff locked, which probably improves reliability of the ABS modulator because it's not getting over-worked. 2 more cents

Default hi All

HI all, I've had My Disco II (1999) (90,000kms) for a year and a half now.
I love the car, it drives very well and the ACE system is great. What isn't great are my Christmas lights which are constantly on, ABS/HDC/TractionControl. My mechanic put it on the computer and basically reset it, so the lights left for about 2 months. Now they're back on and have been for the past couple of months. After reading what some of you have mentioned I will try and put some of that info to use.
What can anybody tell me about the hand brake light flashing on and off while I'm driving? It even comes on while i'm stopped. Now that's 4 lights on!! Enough is enough. Went to LandRover to see what it would cost me. The first thing he said was, $130 per hour to check it, we put it on the pc, check the computer, if there's a problem with one of your sensors you're looking at $600 per sensor. ( Get A friggin Life!!) I just said thanks and walked out. Is that what they cost? That seems a bit too steep for me.
By the way, I'm from Melbourne,so we're talking aussie dollars.
Cheers

A couple of questions, when you said your mechanic put your truck on a computer and sort of reset it, what exactly did he do, did he use a test book to read the codes and if so what were they? Are you running aftermarket pads and or rotors, do your brakes squeak alot? Does your ABS and T/C work now even with the light on?
Get back to me.
Mike

Thanks For Your response Mike.

My mechanic has the Land Rover program, but for some reason it wouldn't work so he took it to the Land Rover dealer and they tested it. He told me some numbers which i can't remember now, he said those numbers didn't pin point the problem so they reset the computer and problem solved!!!

I had my major service done there, and also had a new radiator put in. The parts he used were all from LandRover, As far as the rotors go, i haven't touched them, but the last couple of weeks my brakes have started to squeak, so i guess it's time for new pads and most likely rotors, I can see grooves and a lip on em so it's time to do it i think. My ABS works, not sure about the T/C though. how do i test it on my own? I'm not a mechanic, only know the mininal basics. All i do is change the oil and oil filter every 3000 kms.
What about my H/D? And what about the bloody handbrake light? which by the way hasn't come on since i posted my previous message.
I think my cars name is CHRISTINE

thanks
