Default ABS / Wheel Speed Sensor removal...

What is the minimum I need to remove to get my speed sensor out to check/clean it?

I've looked in the Rave and see where they are telling me to remove the hub and that it's an assembly, I see from reading past posts that I can indeed remove just the sensor, but do I still need to remove the hub to get to it? Or just the brake rotor?

In case you are wondering I have a code 047 Right Rear speed sensor output low code thats triggering the three amigos. I have no brake squeal, connection and sensor wiring seems fine, abs is functioning. I want to get in there and see if the sensor is dirty or chewed up and cross that off the list. May need to replace it too.

I will also be doing a complete brake fluid flush as recommended on previous posts by Disco Mike.

Thanks for the help - Mike

If you're going to go through the trouble of removing the sensor, I would recommend replacing it. It's not a serviceable part so you probably won't get too much benefit from cleaning it. Oftentimes when the code readers determine the ABS sensor to be at fault, it is in fact the hub that has failed and is causing the sensor to get bad input. It might not be a bad idea to replace the hub as well.

well i for one have replaced 2 bad sensors in my truck both fronts, ordered the sensor its self from the dealer and they questioned me about it and i said it was the only thing left and it did fix my three amigos situation...

the rave does not break the parts down but the dealership parts counter does.. its just a 4 or 6 mm allen head screw on the top of the hub... and then follow the wires...

make sure you order and get your new ones before you start so you know how far you will have to go... my new front sensors had to be wired into the ecu harness which was pretty easy...
