Default ACE sway bar bushings

I have a couple sources of clunks that i have found so far.

I have to replace my from ACE sway bar bushings. Do just have to unbolt the two brackets and replace the bushings? The bar shouldn't be loaded because the DII will be level (side to side). I plan on doing it with the DII on the ground. Is there any thing I am missing?

My Watts linkage bushing are next. One of them is shot. I figure I should do all of them if I have the linkage out. I ordered them form the UK and saved a bunch of $$. They were $112+$30 shipping (got them the next day). I also got the ACE filter for $25 (vs $50 in the US)

Have you tested the ACE bushings to verify they are bad, it is very rare when they fail even though the may look bad.
If you are getting a noise from them spray both with silicone and see if the noise goes away.
How many miles on your truck?

104K. They are shot, I was able to wiggle (up/down) the bar in the bushings. When I do that, I do get a clunk sound. I checked the rear bushings and they are good, no movement at all.

Make sure to unplug the power scourse for the ACE so it will slowly bleed down pressure which will allow you to mover that arm, a little.

I swapped them out tonight. It took all of 20 minutes. I didn't have to pull the fuse for the ACE. One of the clunks is gone. No I just have the one from the Watts linkage. Hopefully I can do that this weekend.

If you haven't done it yet, consider flushing your ACE, will make it work better.

You might want to call me before you do the filter, it can be a pain sometime.

I replaced the Watts linkage bushings/bearings yesterday. What a difference. Between the sway bar bushings and the Watts linkage bearings the knocks and clunks are gone.

Filter, but pull it out and quickly replace the filter with out loosing too much fluid, keep th old filter, it can be cleaned and reused later.
Do you know how to flush the system?

You will find you will probably need 3 to 4 quarts of p/s fluid and if the steering hasn't been done recently I would suggest doing it at the same for a total of 7 or 8 quarts between them.

Good luck with it, you should feel a difference real quick. You might hold off or use no more then 1/4 bottle of the Lucas because of the cold weather, otherwise the p/s pump will growl at you and a really cold morning, only for 3 or 4 seconds, then it is fine.
