Default advice please: vibration under acceleration. clunk sound when i shift into drive

..and a little chirping sound that I seen discomike and savannah talking about.. the clunk feels like its coming from the front center.. do I start with inspection of u joint? Please know that it is 20 degrees here and I will not be getting to this until later in the week with warmer temps.. also I have owned the truck for about a year and never inspected them or greased.. but when I did get an oil change I remember they said they greased rear.. whatever that means.. I'm very limited here.. thank you in advance

Thank you Blamo.. I'm going to look for that thread.. could you tell me what I should look for under there that would indicate I have the same problem as you did? A prediction so to speak?

Just "looking" may not indicate a problem. You already have every clue that your driveshaft is ready to self destruct. DO NOT DRIVE IT until it's fixed!

I found the DC CV ball from an "Antichrist" thread.. with link and all.. then the u joint link he provided said "part not found". He also mentioned that he told advanced auto to update their catalog over the part number or something.. here's the u joint I found with them.. its double the price.. just want to make sure its correct before I purchase 3 of them.. thanks guys.

My u-joint had the zerk on the end cap which makes it easy to not mix up when installing try a store with your #s Instead of online

If you are mechanical, then send me your e-mail address and I will send you a complete PDF on rebuilding the drive shaft. Don't even worry about inspecting it, quit driving it and get it fixed or you will be buying a replacement tranny when that shaft fails.

Great write up mike.. covered everything.. only thing I think I may have a problem with is that cv ball.. how impartial are you to the cutting and capping the second pair of zerks? Does it have anything to do with balance, leaks or potential corruption of the inner cross? I got the parts I just have to wait for weather to lighten up now.. thanks again

I don't understand your question. The centering ball must be replace, use a slide hammer. Make sure you buy all U.S. made parts, none from China.
