Best Year Disco... - Land Rovers Only

I wanted to let everyone know about an article I read in Consumer Reports. I realize they have a vendetta with Land Rover but.... This past issue they listed Used Cars to stay away from. They listed 99-01 Discos and 03-04. It might have been a typo but there was no mention of 02's. If this is not a typo why on earth would CR (The original LR haters) claim the 02 for the most reliable year? The only thing I can think is this: The 02 was the last year of that style, most kinks worked out? Any comments welcome.

Since their arrival in 99, the D2's have been good vehicles, being from the UK. When it come to what to stau away from, the 03 is at the top of the list for issues, the mid 01's, 02 and 03 if you want to do a lot of wheeling since they have no CDL's.
I drive a 99 and wouldn't part with it.

Besides the '03 4.6 specific issues... those were ironed out by the time '04 came out... plus '04s have CDL...

Best is relative... an opinion... but for D1 I suspect most will say '99. For D2... '04...

If you want your ECU in the cab v. under the hood... '94/95... best for water crossing.
