Default blocking EGR BUT?

I snapped ERG tube when taking it off for gasket replacement i have heard no biggy just to block it off
BUT the vacume lines that go to both EGR valves and then to what i think is carcol canister or some canister on passengers side and then on drivers side goes to some sensor ? Question is can I just block off entire route from both sides of intake ? Or should I just block off vacume line that used to go to ERG? Please Help ASAP Engine in pieces? Also if any one needs to EGR vavles or pipe the run behind engine?

What? Diesels don't run rich/lean. (This is a diesel, right? The V8s don't have EGR.) They love excess air. There are block off kits for this so you can do it.

Urban Panzer has a good write-up on EGR removal:
www.discovery2.co.uk /workshop - EGR removal

If its a 300TDI, this site has a good write-up:
How to remove the EGR on a 300Tdi Land Rover Discovery : Land Rover Discovery Store

Its probably SAI then. If you don't fix it, you will get codes.

Your non functioning EGR (no vacuum) will cause a CEL to come on.

As far as the too rich too lean scenario: With the lack of functioning EGR the vehicle will only run based upon actual air flow to the cylinders versus the introduction of already combusted exhaust gases that reduce the air quality/oxygen content in the combustion chambers.

With the oxygen content higher, the pulse width of the injector will increase, but I stop short in saying it will be running "rich". The inference that it will be running "rich" is that it is running poorly. (ie:too much fuel for given conditions thereby increasing the emmisions out the exhaust)

EGR systems are in place to reduce emmisions (Nox in particular). Check Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market for the part you need in the interim.

Hope this helps.

IT DOESN'T HAVE EGR!!!!!!!!!!

Those 2 valves are part of the secondary air injection system designed to heat the catalytic converters quickly when the engine is cold.

Is this what broke?

Thats exactly whats broken but at the copper bottoms Ive asked every auto dealer in town what it is or if i could order it and they are F-ing clueless thank alot for clearing that up now could you explain what it does or if it will run with out it for a while and what that would cause and is a secondary air injector the same as a EGR? GOOD call

IT will run without it but it isn't good. Fix it with some heater hose and a couple of hose clamps.
