Default Brake fluid change

Wondering what you guys think about synthetic brake fluid...
I have been told that Valvoline synthetic brake fluid is great, but I am weary of switching to synthetic...

What if I have to do a trail or road fix and need to add more brake fluid? no way someone has synthetic in their recovery kit, garage, or even the local gas station. (that means I have to carry it)

If I start using synthetic, that means I have to stay synthetic? can't mix them right?

If someone is not for synthetic, can you recommend a brand and type (dot 3, 4, 5, 12 whatever) or regular fluid?

thanks

That fluid is not on the list of recommended fluids that Rover lists.... Thus I wouldnt use it.

Castrol LMA is in the list, and avalible in the states.... THis would be the fluid I would use.

I use the synthetic with no problems.
It would be rare to need brake fluid on the trail but I wouldn't worry about mixing it under these circumstances. If it really worries you carry a bottle with you. I have Brake fluid, transfer and diff oil, engine oil, PAS fluid and transmission fluid with me on all trips. So far I've only used my diff oil and that was a donation to someone else on a trip. I don't carry synthetics for the spares fluid to save on cost. except for the brake fluid in fact.

Default i have!!

The reason I posed the off raod question is that I had to deal with brakes and fluid on my last romp.

a guy split a steel brake line and didn't know it until he had almost no brakes. RR classic all done up. no ebrake to speak of. needed to pinch the brake line and add fluid to get home. nobody had brake fluid.

led me to this question

thanks for the input, I guess carry some of what ever I use is really no big deal.

Another question though....

For those of you who use the synthetic, why?? what properties of the synthetic are steering you in that direction? I assume Castrol LMA is a high quality product with good properties?

thanks
