Question Brake pads

I think I am in need of new brake pads. They are making alot of dust and making a slight squeal. I had the Disco checked out buy a local mechanic who is a friend of mine. He said the brake pads look new on it. They are really thick. However, the three amigos have been coming on. If I turn the truck off and restart it, the lights go off. I have been trying to keep the brakes sprayed out. This seems to help until the dust has time to build up again. It seems the previous owner has put cheap pads on it. Will replacing the pads with quality pads prevent the lights from returning? Thought they would stay on if it was something that a dealer would have to reset. The lights are off now (don't know how long this will last). Also, is it a good idea to have the rotors turned while doing this? Thanks for any help.

What brand of pad is on your truck?
You may be able to correct this issue if you remove the pads and apply lots of sound deaden material in the backing plates before reinstalling them, or go to a better pad.

+1 on removing and applying brake squeel. Sometimes the vibration from squeeling will set off the 3 amigos so it may not neccisarrily be the brake dust.

How many miles are on your rotors? From my understanding it isn't recommended to turn the factory rotors, but someone may want to correct me on this.

Not sure what brand the pads are. The rotors have alittle over 117,000 miles on them.

If in fact they have that many miles on the rotors, they have to be under factory specs and are probably running pretty hot.
You may need to just start fresh, pads and rotors along with a good brake flush.

I am checking prices on rotors and pads. I will also do some searching on here to see what people are using. I may also replace the brake hoses with braided stainless lines while I am at it.

While you are price shopping, give Tony a call (He owns Cerrones in California). He had the best price I could find on Akebonos I could find.

I guess I can call Tony on Monday. Has anybody done any business with Brake Planet? They have some rotors at a good price. The warranty sounds good also. I wonder if their rotors are good, and if they stand behind their warranty.
