Why do you feel you need to recharge your a/c? What test have been done?
By your questions, you only know enough to be dangerious to the system and I wouldn' recommend you do the service, find a small shop that has an a/c service special, let them do it and save doing something wrong that could damage the system.

I was not going to do it myself, just inquiring about the process. The a/c is a bit weak and I was curious. The truck is going in for shocks and the guy is looking at the a/c system as well. We are in a heat wave and it is not as cold as it was a few weeks ago. I mean it would hurt your hand to hold it in front of the air vent for too long it was soo cold, but the kick is not there as it was.

Two things,

check to see how much is pulled out upon recovery and then have them vacuum recover as much condensation as possible. I like to go for a half an hour of time, Then recharge the system.

You see when you recover all the condensation as well the temperature of the AC goes down to its intended target. You can get down to below 40 even lower if you put it on long enough.

by the way with rear AC its 2.20lbs.

without its around 1.5 lbs.
We usually add about .3 extra for the AC lines of the machine itself.

And most lmportantly make sure they add Dye.

Cause if you have a leak we can tell where the leak is coming from.

I would make sure you get a competent shop because in my opinion some shops just do enough to get you by, so you will be returning later.
