Default Can I run 265/75 with spacers?

I just got the deal of the century on a Pair of BFG's! I need to put them on the trail Rig but was curious if I could run 265\75 (old set of tires with lots of life left) without a lift (stock) and just 1" spacers on my stock truck? I know ....Major LOOSER question and I should know the answer however I am clueless! Thanks guys!

From Discoweb:

Tire fitment guide:

Discovery

*

235/70-16: Stock tire size.
*

205/80-16: Stock size in many other countries. same height as 235/70-16.
*

255/65-16: same height as stock
*

225/75-16: little taller than stock
*

245/70-16: little taller and wider than the stock size. reportedly, no need for lift, just minor trimming to fit those tires.
*

245/75-16: popular size for OME suspension lifted vehicles. require slight trimming on the rear wheel well fender, and may also call for adjustment on the steering bumpstops.
*

215/85-16: same height as 245/75-16. but narrower. seems to be preferred for the snow and mud.
*

265/70-16: about as tall as 245/75-16, but wider. will require more trimming and steering bump stops adjustments along with taller bump stops over the rear axle.
*

265/75-16: almost 32" tall. Same as stock NAS D90 tires. Will require even more trimming.
*

235/85-16: same height as 265/75-16 but narrower. And seems to be the most popular size with OME lift.
*

255/85-16: about 33" tall...very few people have fitted this size. Lots of butchering for this one.
*

285/75-16: about 33" also... but very very wide.

Discovery Series II

*

255/65-16: Stock tire size.
*

255/70-16: Just a bit taller than stock.
*

265/75-16: Taller and wider than stock, possible to fit without lift. minor rubbing. Looks real balanced with mild OME lift.
*

285/75-16: even taller than 265/75-16, r requires a bit more lift than the regular OME lift. some have fitted OME751 from Discovery series I, and changed SLS sensor in the rear to achieve almost 3 inches. Gearing and shaft strenght become issues.
*

255/85-16: a bit taller than 285/75-15 but narrower. Gearing and shaft strenght become issues.

I think you're ok onroad but will need to trim some panels for offroad. with stock setup, the truck is gonna look like squatted on 265/75.

I wouldn't install the 265's on a stock D2 running the old factory springs and 1" spacers. You will stuff tires badily off the road, they will rub, you will need a certain amount of trimming and adjuting of the turn stops.
I don't know how many miles you have on your truck, but do your self a favor, put on some good OME springs and shocks, get at least 2"s, you will have a much better ride and some great tires.

Chucky- That is my concern, I do not want it to look STUPID! These tires are in great shape though and I hate to let them go to waste. I will just get the OME lift for this truck too...Goodbye MPG!

You are right, good bye MPG, when I switched from the factory 18"ers to 265,75,16's I lost 2MPG in town and 1 1/2 on the road, but on the plus side truck looks better, rides better, and goes wherever I want it to.
Later I did go to 4:10 gears whiles installing my lockers and axle and regained nearly all the lost MPG.
You take care,
Mike

I just installed the BFG 265/75 R16s on my D2.

I already had trimmed the front bumper (and the wheel well to match the bumper).

There was a little rub on the bit of wheel well that was no longer attached, so I just zip tied it to pull it forward a bit.

Before I went off road, I installed 1.5" spacers in the front and recalibrated my air bags to bring the rear up to match.

Made the spacers here at work, so this lift was pretty much free.

This is only going to be like that for a while until I decide (and have the money) on a 2 or 3" lift.

So I guess they would work if you don't mind trimming a bit.

Peace,

Dan
