Got my Amigos taken care of. ABS Modulator replaced. Going through the list and I'm almost done with the general stuff. Replaced DS with a Tom Woods, almost done with the maintenance. Don't have a CDL yet!
My question is this: How safe is it to test out some beginners trails with tires with this level of tread? I want to see how these perform before I go spend 1500-2000 on new tires and lift.
From the ground to top of fender is 32,1/2 inches. That good or bad? I feel like the ride could be nicer. Will a 2" lift make it ride that much nicer?
I get so caught up in what everybody else is doing to their rigs, it feels like that's what I should be doing to mine. I get the standard maintenance and all but I'm wondering, do I actually need a lift and new tires? I get the need of CDL- so I'm doing that. But I know I can't do the lift without the tires. But maybe tires without the lift? When I need them?
I may hit the trails once a month when it's all ready.
You have a perfect mall crawler that can go on an entry to moderate level trail. That's fun!
Otherwise, you have to cross the grey area and go lift and bigger tires. CDL and no lift = banana-split hold the banana's, just a personal opinion. You can always have ice cream without a banana....but a scoop of vanilla is sooooo boring.
265/75/16 with a 2" lift seems to be the quintessential set-up for moderate to medium off road. YES, spare me the flaming and know, you can off road in your moms station wagon if you really want to..Do what feels good and you can afford.
I just never want to be the girl at the dance with funny shoes.
like-new tyres, you'll be set for any condition.. theres an video on youtube showing a stock 05 Range Rover, with highway tyres, handles rcok surfaces, muds, no problems.. from what i read so far, stock set aren't that bad
what i don't get is CDL, they said 2003 2004 DD2 don't come with CDL, what benefit can it give ?

It's not like I am going to do this without asking my mom first.

Yes. Mine rides really well with 2" ome HD I put the new goodyear wrangler mtr kevlars on it it's a little rough but nice dd2 has pics....and a weird shoe fetish if she's nice she can post pics my fender to the ground is 38"
For all the luxury I keep hearing about, it doesn't seem that smooth in the bumps department. Pavement that is. I don't expect a cushy ride like a Big Lexus truck, but it seems rugged. Now if it' supposed to ride hard, that's cool, but it doesn't strike me as (Voice of Ricardo Montalbon) "ohh this is a very smooth ride!"
I like the truck, I just want it to be what it's supposed to be. I have nothing to compare it to.

U have 18's right? Do you get the extra 2" from rim or does that eat into your tire sidewall capacity? Do you sacrifice, tire sidewall for rim is what I'm asking.
For the amount of offroading I'll probably do, I may be willing to trade my 16s for some 18's. Only because I keep hearing the 16 vs. 18's debate
Yes I have 18's my sidewall isn't small at all would have say stick with your 16 just because of price my tires cost 1200 I just really like my 18's so I stuck with them
