Can you Reuse Stock Fender Flares After Trimming

I searched, but couldn't find anything that would help.

I've recently purchased a Disco 2 and it came with THESE FLARES that were bought from Lucky8, as well as stock flares.

I broke one of the flares in a coulpe of places and Lucky8 suggested that I get a washer to hold back the section that pulled loose. I wouldn't mind, but I kind of like the look of the smaller fender flares. I'm wondering whether or not the stock flares should fit onto the vehicle if they were trimmed back to accommodate the 50mm flares.
