Default Can't shift into the Low range

Hi,

I have this problem with my new 2000 LR Disco II .

I can't shift the xferr case out of the high gear . It will not go into neutral of the low gear . The leaver moves close to the 'N' in you push it .

Now would that be the problem with the fork in the xferr case or the linkage it self ?

Now I did it in my other LR b4 and it was tugh to move it , but it did . In this one it's just stuk .

What should I look at ?

Now I found couple of posts but nothing that would explain the same problem i have .

Here is a very helpful thread.

Are you trying to shift while rolling at about 5 mph, or doing it while standing still?

Most likely it is.

The first owner was rental place in FL for the first 30k . and the second owner had it for 100k and i don't think he toke it off- road as far as durt road.

Now I never paid attention to the linkage , but is it a cable of levers and shit?

linkage is a metal rod that goes into the transfer case... if you can, pop the cover off of the top, and spray some penetrating lubricant (pb blaster, wd40) into it... when you're trying to engage it, try to have a little bit of speed (3-5mph) , it makes it easier to pop it in.. so just throw it in neutral, let it roll a bit and push into it.

So I pulled my front driveshaft out ( xferr case baring is bad ). And i figured wille I'm there I'll look it over .

I can see the cable move in and out but it looks to me like a leaver? in the xferr case is barly moving . I will need to take a picture or video of it .
