Default Climate control not working

Hi Guys, today our climate control stopped working. The display is fine, fan seems to run at appropriate speed. However, the air that comes out is hot not cold. Fuses seem fine, no error code when testing it.

2000 Disco II

Any ideas?

Thanks much!

How did you check it and is your freon low causing the compressor to not come on?

please tell us your Climate control doesn't say econ ( economy mode)

that' switches off the A/C? also check to see if cold air is coming out of your rear A/C

Econ mode is definitly not the problem ;-)

No cool air in either the front or back vents.

I did the "Turn Ignition off, hold down the two bottons, turn ignition to position II and got an error code if FC 00".

How can I check the freon levels?

Thanks for your help guys. It's hot as sin here!

First, check and see if your compressor is even coming on, if not there is a pretty good chance you ar low on freon or you may also have a bad pressure switch.
The best way to check the compressor operation, if it is running, is with a set of gauges.
Some, I being one of them, have purchased and used some of the new freon cans with a high pressure gauge, they work pretty well if you are familiar with servicing an a/c system.

Sounds like it may be beyond me. I have no experience with AC systems. Starting with the basics here. Would I just listen for noise from the compressor to see if it is coming on?

Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it.

Yeah, start the truck and with the radio off, hit "Auto" on the climate control and the compressor should kick on... It will be a quick noise and your idle should jump a little. You can verify its operation by hitting the "ECON" button a few times... If you don;t hear anything when you hit "ECON", the compressor is not coming on -> needs R-134a...

Most repair shops like Midas and PepBoys offer a summer A/C check special for about $20... Take it to them and you can have the system leak checked and filled for less than $50...

Or it might need one of 2 sensors or a new electric fan, which if it won't come on won't allow the compressor to start.

We'll have to get it back in...
