Default Confused nervousness

Hi all I have a 04 disco with 86000 on the clock. Recently noticed ticking more often with the warm weather and all. So I just did a atf flush and oil change using 10w40 mobil 1. Still here ticking/clicking so I got under her to take a listen and I could here it well around the oil pan and surrounding area. I couldn't pin point where for sure or if the noise is just bouncing around down there or if it is coming from the oil pan or the tranny. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Peace,Chris

Are you sure it is not an exhaust leak?

I'm with Mike check the exhaust to y pipe joint and the manifold to head connection.

I'm guessing you'll find the culprit there

Mike, I'm pretty sure I've had 2 mechanics swear that it's a valvetrane noise. Plus before it got real hot here the noise was very hit or miss. One mechanic hit with the steth and said he heard nothing around the exhaust but could hear ticking on plenum. Chris

Default Wouldn't that

Wouldn't that point to exhaust leak? After the engine gets hot it heats up and the metal expands sealing the leak? I had a manifold leak in my old 95 Pathfinder that had those symptoms. Yours is a tick, mine was a puff.
