Default Converting to manual window winders?

Yes, I said it. Please no questions about why, or mentioning resale value, or whatever. I prefer manual windows, that's it.

So, my question is whether it's possible to convert my 2003 power windows to manual winders. Has anyone done it, are the parts available, possibly from earlier D1's?

Thanks,
Ross.

I don't know, but I would love to do the same thing. Go back to when things were simpler, and there wasn't all this high tech stuff Lock em and go

I don't believe DII's ever came with manual windows anywhere.
I'm finally getting around to ordering manual winders for my '95 soon.

No NAS (North American Specification) Discoveries were equipped with manual windows winders. If you were serious about it, you'd have to source the parts from the UK. This would include new regulators, new door cards, and new window winders. Cost of parts, shipping, and import duties would easily run over $1000.

Alternately, what you could do is find a vehicle with similar door and window dimensions that uses manual winders and then set about fabricating brackets to make the regulators work in the Disco and then drill out your door cards to accept the new window handles.

All this seems like a MASSIVE amount of work to downgrade your car to ancient technology.

Late d1 and all d2 use the same front regulators. You could probably put manual regulators in the front fairly easily, depending on where the cranks come through the door card.
