Default cracked exhaust manifold...

so I was driving on the highway last night and i started to hear a slight whistle whenever the throttle was engaged. I figured it was an exhaust leak someplace. I popped the hood and looked at the passenger side exhaust manifold to find a small chunk missing from around one of the studs. The car is going into the shop on monday anyway for other warranty repairs, i'm just wondering how hard it is to install and how long it takes to install a new exhaust manifold.?

Well it depends on luck to some point..... If the head bolts are siezed in the head it can be a pain... But when I have done them on other disco's it has only taken about 30 min or so. I know on the DI it was actually a recalled item... may look into that

Well, if you are going in for warranty work, that is the good news, this should be covered also so what's an extra day in the shop.

yeah, well my dad just bought an 06 LR3 today, and i am entitled to a loaner...so i'll have 2 different cars to play around with while its in the shop... but knowing this dealership's parts dept. it may be a while before they even get the part and gaskets in if they dont have them.

just dont take if off or else it aint running for shit.

and no you dont want to put it on yourself.

four is at the bottom underneath the rest.

spark plug wire number four

see the white on the underside of the plug wire in the picture.

thats heat damage its either number six or four that do it. none on the other side for some odd reason though.

no idea but dont go pulling on it thats for sure.

and if its before the warrantee is up just yank on it so you can get a new one installed.

look for any leaks before the warrantee is up and complain so you can get some free repairs.

we arent allowed to warrantee hunt, oil leaks no, coolant leaks yes.

well i bought a mustang new in 2005 and i voided its warranty within a few months...i bought this in may with 16k miles and I have a factory warranty for 2 more years and an extended warranty for 2 more after that. I've already had them replace everyspeaker, all the taillights, my horn buttons, my armrest bolt covers, my center caps, my manifold (gaskets, nuts, etc)....and i'll have them fix the plug wire soon.

i took a warranty for granted on my last ride, but i am loving this warranty right now lol.
