Default D2 Idle Control Valve

After searching the intake system for leaks based on the excellant advice of one of the members, (hesitation, stalling, elevated revs at decell or even throttle which caused trans to "hunt" a bit) felt vibration in the lines going to the idle control valve even though the ignition was completely off. Disconnected electrical to the part and reconnected and it remained off. Took the control off and cleaned as well as possible but could see some carbon-like deposits although the valve appeared to move freely. Performance is now 90% better with only a slight off throttle stumble at one time in about 30 minutes.

I'm wondering if the valve may stick either open when trying to maintain idle when you're off the throttle or closed after acceleration before a stop?

Has anyone had this experience and does anyone know if there is a control module for the idle valve or does it go straight to the computer?

65 k miles '02 - looks like of carbon in oil fill, on throttle body, dipstick and in idle valve if that makes any difference.

Clean out your t/body with carb spray and a tooth bruch, then wipe out all the junk.
Consider doing an engine flush, ATF type and a induction cleaning to get rid of some of that build up you are talking about.
