Default Damn hood

I tried to push down on it and pull the lever which worked last time. I've tried to pull the cable itself with some pliers. It obviously needs a new cable but how do I get it open? Anyone know any tricks?

I'm very sad to admit it...that is the one thing I've had to take mine to the Bham dealer for. I cursed all the way there and all the way back and they ripped me a new one with the bill, but I was trying to change my oil and well.......kinda hard to do when you can't get the hood open. I couldn't find anyone else in town that could help me out.

Maybe someone will have some more tips cuz I only knew of the pliers.

the problem is that my battery is dead and i cant drive it to the dealer and i'm not about to foot the bill to have it towed that far. I guess I will have to find somewhere around here to get it open.

When i pull the hood release lever i can hear a little click. I tried to push the yellow hood release under the hood after i did this but no luck. Also, when i push down on the hood after pulling the inside lever, it clicks back down into place. Seems like it is jst not pulling quite far enough.

Does this release have anything to do with the electrical system? One of my friends was pulling the wire through the front grille while i pulled the inside lever and he felt a litle shock.

It cost me a couple of hundred bucks. That included having them go ahead and thread a new cable also....alot more than I think it should have been. Threading a new cable is supposed to be a fairly simple job. My problem was (like you) I couldn't figure out how to get the freakin thing open so that I could even thread a cable! You might try calling the dealership and seeing if they'd give you some tips...you honestly never know.

The electric shock...probably static electricity if I was going to toss a guess out there.

I called the dealership this morning and they were happy to tell me what to do which was surprising.

I had to reach through the grill and pop off the plastic triangular piece with a screwdriver. Then I could see how the little deal worked. Pretty simple actually after you get the plastick piece off. The wire pulls a lever which pops the hood.

Hope this helps someone if they have the same problem.

That is great news. Hope everyone sees it. If there is a category for gold plated tips, this one should go to the top of the list.

Thanks again.
