Angry Dead battery

I just has an engine swap in my 01 disco 2. also replaced battery. Now battery is dead after 4 days sitting, I took a volt meter and while the engine is off I have voltage (12 or better) on certain fuses. Is that right? Is there a way to check if my altenator is good or bad?

Drive down to AutoZone or Advance Auto and have them put their battery/alternator tester on it. They can test the battery for condition as well as test the alternator output with an induction pickup while it is running. If they tell you to take it out of the vehicle to have it tested, DON'T DO IT! On the phone, they told me to take mine out, and when I got down there neither had the correct cable to put it on their machine! Then they had the nerve to say, "you should have left it on the vehicle, it is much easier to test that way". Beyond that, make sure all your grounds are solid and nothing is on, interior lights etc..
Hope that helps - Bill

You need at least 13.6 volts across the battery terminal, go get it charged and then have the battery and alternator tested.

I have 13.9 while running after the motor is off for an hour I have 12ish, as more time goes by the more voltage drop I have. I cant find anything on inside. I do have voltage on some fuses under the dash while the truck is off.

You have airbags suspension? Im not sure if they run while the truck is off..but maybe you have a leak on your bags if you do. Sounds like there is a voltage drop somewhere tho. Which fuses are seeing voltage?

The SLS only runs for about a minute after the engune is turned off.
I would clean and reconnect the cables then go have the alternator checked, they have been know to short and draw down the system.
