Default Disco 2 S - is CD Changer wiring standard?

Having searched on CD Changer, I don't have a conclusive answer to my question:

Do Discos without a CD changer under the passenger seat necessarily have the cabling in place? I can't see anything and wasn't sure if it would be tucked away somewhere or if LR only fitted it to some Discos that didn't have the changer installed.

Thanks all,

Jason.

I have a 2000 DII and it came prewired for a CD changer. I installed it, and 2 yrs later it stopped working.
The wire is a black wire with a small adapter on the end. It runs under the seat and goes under the carpet by the center console (with the wiring for the power seats).
I bought mine used, but it didn't have a CD changer when I bought it, so I doubt the previous owner had the wiring done.

Thanks for the reply. Does your passenger seat have a storage box underneath it with a small door? Mine does and there's no wires in there. Is this where the changer would fit or is this removed totally when the changer is installed? Would my wire be outside of this - I can't really see under the seat as the storage box is in the way.

The Changer is normally mounted there the flip down door is where the magazine can be ejected...
The wiring could be under there, you'll have to look for the black multipin plug it's about a 1/2" diameter

Yes, I have the flip down door on the passenger side.
Though I've heard of a lot of people mounting them in the back of the rovers.
I don't know that mine is a "storage box". Its just a door, when I open it I can see under the seat (all the wiring for the power seats, and fuses are perfectly visible).
So if you have a "box", then it may be removed and just leave the door. Its a little tricky to access the CD changer through the door, but most people are impressed with how "customized" it makes it feel.

Quite different then. If the rain eases I'll see if I can remove the storage box and look at the wires. I can't see anything from the back of the seat and nothing from the front because of the box. I'll report back as there may be others in my position that would like a CD Changer on top of the cassette only head unit.

Thanks for the additional info.

Jason.

You could just whip the head unit out and insert a CD (or in my case a Minidisc) in the hole. You will need a standard ISO connector to bullet cable and just match the wire colours from your new stereo. Voila! Oh, and to hide the screws for teh dash you need this: http://www.autotoys.com/x/cust/produ...productid=4721

Do you have any photos you can post to show the end result? The standard stereo is shaped isn't it I think so how good is the surround you link to?

I've found something that may be it - it is white though with 4 wires going in to it, 1 pink, 1 pink and white, 1 green and 1 black. Could this be it?

Thanks,

Jason
