Having searched on CD Changer, I don't have a conclusive answer to my question:
Do Discos without a CD changer under the passenger seat necessarily have the cabling in place? I can't see anything and wasn't sure if it would be tucked away somewhere or if LR only fitted it to some Discos that didn't have the changer installed. Thanks all, Jason. |

I have a 2000 DII and it came prewired for a CD changer. I installed it, and 2 yrs later it stopped working.
The wire is a black wire with a small adapter on the end. It runs under the seat and goes under the carpet by the center console (with the wiring for the power seats). I bought mine used, but it didn't have a CD changer when I bought it, so I doubt the previous owner had the wiring done. |

Yes, I have the flip down door on the passenger side.
Though I've heard of a lot of people mounting them in the back of the rovers. I don't know that mine is a "storage box". Its just a door, when I open it I can see under the seat (all the wiring for the power seats, and fuses are perfectly visible). So if you have a "box", then it may be removed and just leave the door. Its a little tricky to access the CD changer through the door, but most people are impressed with how "customized" it makes it feel. |

You could just whip the head unit out and insert a CD (or in my case a Minidisc) in the hole. You will need a standard ISO connector to bullet cable and just match the wire colours from your new stereo. Voila! Oh, and to hide the screws for teh dash you need this: http://www.autotoys.com/x/cust/produ...productid=4721
