Default Disco II CD changer problem

My friend has a 2004 Disco II with a CD player problem. I'm looking for a little help for him, here's what he sent me:

My CD Changer in Disco just stopped working. Is this something you would know anything about? The head unit knows a cartridge is in the player, but the head unit says "no disc" when I select CD as the mode. So I am thinking that whatever triggers the CD into the player mechanism is either broken or stuck/needs to be cleaned....

Any ideas?

Joey

Joey,- just a thought - when you switch from disc 1 to 6 can you hear the changer operating. I know that the changer in my 2000 can't read CDR's or rewritables - only orginal CD's. Gary

A copy CD I made finished mine. Once this happens, there is little or nothing you can do unless you go on line and Google factory radio repairs, find one that works on theses CD's and if they don't charge an arm and a leg, let them rework the player.

Just take the cartridge out and re-install.

I've had so many problems with mine, (actually on my second one cause I replaced the first one and this one did the same within a week) that I took it out, took the cover off and cut a square piece the size of the mechanism in the cover with a rubber piece to cover it to minimize dust. That way, whenever this happens, I lift the rubber flap and turn the gears with my finder while I push the eject button. Cartridge comes out everytime and I re-insert it and tadammmm. Problem fixed!

When mine failed, some time ago, I tried that with no results.

mine does that at least once a week if i eject the cartridge and push it back in with some force (slam it) it will work therefore confirming my philosophy "if its not working, try kicking it" and as far as playing burned CDs thats all i have in it right now and they play just fine. burned CDs are not the problem its probably a dust and dirt issue it is under the seat where dust likes to collect.

you just can't read MP3 or Wav files, you have to use A CD burning software that can make it an "Audio" CD

right a quick fix to get the dartridge out;
press the button and wait nothing happens,
press the cartridge into wards right. and then press the button and it should just pop out

when reloading it do it slowly do not change cd's as soon and u fire the engine gt it about 40-50 seconds then do it, and dont change cd to quickly other wise it will jam again

pm me if u need more help our pics of how to doit...
worked for my disco about 8 times
