Default Disco II CDL install

I finally installed my CDL actuator for my Disco II
I bought an -04 mechanism used from Roverland Parts. They Rock! 2nd time I used them; both times were excellent! Parts are 100% complete, well packaged, clean, etc. couldn't be happier!

The -04 cable linkage went in like a charm. Very easy install. 1st time ever doing it, so it took me 8 hours. However, I cleaned everything while I was in there, took my time greasing every part under the car to prevent rust, etc. The center console was very easy to remove and re-assemble. It has never looked so good becasue it is very clean!

The linkage (cable actually) is very smooth and positive. Awesome!

I removed the neutral safety solenoid that is built in to the -04 linkage housing. One less thing to malfunction in the future. It would be pretty difficult to shift this indo CDL accidentally while driving. I'm not too worried about it.

Anyone that is thinking of doing the CDL shifter install, I highly recommend it.

By the way.

I have the linkage assembly (new and in their packages) for a Disco I. If anyone is interested in buying the parts from me, I would like to get $150 (includes shipping to cont US). I ordered the parts, piece by piece from the microfische, but never installed them. I finally ended up springing the extra cash for the -04 setup. I do not have install instructions, but you can find them online. I also beleive this is the complete linkage from the underside of the lever housing down. If it is not complete, that means I am missing a small, easy to get, hardware store type part. nothing major. PM me if you are interested and I can talk to you about it.

Nope, sorry,
but if you search on discoweb in tech section, there are step by step procedures. It is pretty self explainatory.

the hardest part was remomving and re-installing the shifter cable from the main mechanism without breaking the little plastic ball and socket. It is a little metal start that is pressed into a die-cast cup. It seems like a pretty stupid design, but it seems to work.

also, make sure you have a rivet gun. you will need to re-rivet the cover over the tunnel once you remove it for the install.

pretty easy process overall.
it will take you all day
