Exclamation Disco II + front door central locking

Hiya all!
I have just got my 2000 DII V8 thru compliance and all is well but the fron doors will not work with the central locking. The driver's door key will lock the rear 3 doors (along with the driver's door) but not the front left door. The switch on the dash only operates the 3 rear doors. Anyone have any idea what gives?

Thanks!

I had the same thing, I think the contacts in the actuator in the door fail, I had to replace the actuator. I recall it's pretty common.

First test each of the questionable actuators and make sure they have power to them when you use the locks.

Hi,
Yep, will have to. Is there a curcuit breaker or fuse for them? The '2' light switch to the left of the speedo ain't working either. I wonder if there is a connection (excuse the pun!)?

Default Door Trouble

Hello everyone,

1.) I am having a similar problem. My drivers side door will not unlock when I press the unlock button on my key (the drivers side back door and the two left doors open just fine)

When I lock the car after the first press the three will lock and the drivers side lock will lock only after I press the lock button a second time.

2.) Another thing I noticed was my drivers side door makes a loud knocking sound and it seems like door hinge is moving in and out of the hole its supposed to be held in (or welded in, not sure) while the passenger sides does not.

Let me know what you guys think, similar problem on number 1?

yes, if it doesnt unlock with the remote and when you press the unlock button and you can hear and feel the actuator move then its bad.

the hinge on the door might be a pin loose or the hinge plate rusted off.

Hmm,
I don't hear or feel anything when I lock or unlock with the dash button. That's why I asked if there is a front door isolation or maybe somehting else.

put your hand up against the latch and if you feel nothing then its possible its got no power. many a times the latches dont work but you can feel them activate a bit.

Cool

Hi, I can feel the driver's door clicking but not the LF passenger's. What does this indicate to you lot?
The key in the driver's door will activate the central locking tho.

Thanks for the updates Rovin4life. It looks like my door hinge did just come off, can I just have someone wild this back on? I can take it to our landrover dealership, I just can't afford more then 200.00 on something like this (sorry this is off topic for this forum)

Back to the lock, a strange thing happened, all day yesterday the front door lock (the one with the issue) worked again it would open when I pressed unlock, today however it is not working.

just order a new door latch assembly. Then pull the door panel off, the mirror and put hte window down about halfway and pull the bolts out of the door frame and pull it up enough to clear the latch and then remove the latch. not to hard. just remember to put the bolts on the frame the same side they came off of and to match up the frame where it came off of otherwise you will have a water leak or windnoise.

as for the door hinge, You can have it welded or maybe bolted again.
Your call. welds always work the bolt is iffy.

Thanks Rovin4life, I will take it and have it welded, that should be really cheap and quick fix for now. I noticed that the actuator in my door is actually getting power and moving when I click the open button, I wonder why it will lock the door but not open it?? Perhaps something is just lose or needs to be greased, I guess this weekend I will try removing the door panel.

Thanks for all your help
