New Owner, used Disco II. Any tips on front shock installation? Do I have to remove the bell tower upper mount, or compress the coil spring? Any help is appreciated. I looked on the forum and other sites, but can't find anything for the 2000 year model.

Compress the coil spring--notice the two bolt holes at the bottom of your shocks. Besides fastening the lower end of the front shocks, the lower shock bolts also hold the lower spring perch to the axle. So you need to unload the spring tension to line up the lower perch bolt holes anyway.

You can jack up one side of the front axle, compressing the spring and shock and then pull the top of the shock tower, unhook the top shock mount then the lower mount, remove the shock and installing the new one going thru the same steps backwards.
Thats how I do them and it is real quick and safe. What brand of shock are you going to install? Mike J. |

Many thanks to those who responded to my OME shock installation question. Just finished up, one hour, five minutes. Great to have this forum to ask questions. Now I'm waiting for my Nerf bars, Brush Guard, and cargo rack to arrive. Thanks again.
