2001 disco with 25,000 miles never in rain/water , have a slight milky tint to rear diff fluid, changed fluid out twice to flush (water conamination suspected), still remains slightly milky, does rover put an additive in rear end that could cause this, will this burn out my rear end, not sure how moisture is getting in, help please brett.

Could it just be foamy and full of bubbles? There's nothing in there that's going to hold water in if you've changed it twice already. Are you using Lucas oil? I used that stuff and my diffs screamed like like a virgin ass in jail. Try Amsoil or Mobile 1.

Brett,
Sounds like you got a load of water from some where, have you inspected your vent tube? If there is still some water in there, drive it for a couple few hundred miles a drain it again. You might want to spray some brake ckeaner into the fill hole to wash out as much water as possible. By the way, I use Lucas along with a GL6 rated 75/140W gear oil to keep my Detroit happy and I find the Lucas to be a big plus. Mike |
