I have a question on the door locks on a 02 Disco. I have only had for about three weeks or so. Is there any other resolution other than replacing the actuators, I have two doors, tailgate and LH rear door both will lock on the second push of the lock button but niether will unlock. I have pulled the door panels off to make sure everything is connected and clean I also lubed the connection points and everything moves smoothly and not binding. Has anyone taked the actuators apart is there a different motor for lock and unlock?
Just confused as to why they lock on second lock push and not first, any comments or suggestions. ![]() |

I've done the rear door and the right rear passenger door. (2000 Disco) The rear door would lock but not unlock. The passenger door got slower and slower, having to press the fob multiple times. Both replacement parts came from Roverland and were much cheaper than $320. Their part cost ranged from $50 to $95 each. Very satisfied.
For the tight space and skint knuckles, replacing is the way to go. I do not think you can rebuild them. |

I have a similar deal on my front driver's side. The keyless entry and interior power lock switch will not lock or unlock the driver's side door (all the others are normal), but it functions just fine with the key in the lock. Is this an actuator problem?

You can try removing them, cleaning them ,greasing them, you're wasting your time. I tried it all. Last month I decided to go ahead and do all 4 doors. The parts new at the dealer is $125 for the front ones and $135 for the side rear doors. I considered getting used parts, but the asking price was $95 for the fronts and $100 for the rear. So I decided to go ahead and spend a bit more and be sure that they wouldn't crap on me in a couple of months. Now I know that I'm set for at least a couple of years. Prior to installation, I greased the heck out of them.
So all in all, I spent approx. $600 for all four doors.

On all 4 doors , the frame has to come out. On the rear doors, the portion of the frame towards the rear of the vehicle has to come out first to alow the front portion to be freed from the recess its in. But that is for a D2. Never did it on a D1.
