'01 DII, drivers side front window went down, but does not go back up.
i removed door panal, disconnected speakers, sliced plastic at bottom of door skin and was able to give it a slight lift while pressing window up button. window lifts up and down if i dont let the window go all the way to the bottom. reassembled door panal. told wife to becareful and not let window all the down. 3 days later- yep she let it all the down. . well i was out of town working- gave the wife a tutoritol over the phone and she was able to remove panal and do the same as above smart girl untill she did it 2 days later while i was still out of town today i put a 2x4 in bottom of door, taped up plastic, reassmbeld and tested. window goes 90% down, and is able to lift no problem. however this is a primitive fix at best. sorry so long, but what is going on with the window assy? it goes up and down fine aslong as we don't let it go to bottom= hence the 2x4 for now. can anyone shed some light on this issue, tried a search but could not find anything. we live 110 miles from a rover stealership, and would rather repair this myself, but don't know part[s] are needed, and how to go about removing failed? parts- looks tight on room. any help is much respected thanks John |

If you feel like you can replace the window regulator, you can buy a new one at the dealer for the Big $$$$'s or go to,http://www.roverlandparts.com/index....S&Category=411 and buy a guaranteed used one for $50.
Good luck, Mike |

Thanks for the reply Mike, is this a real bear of a job? I ask only cause it looks like there is not enough room to even get the worn parts out.
so is the regualtor a common part that wears out over time? is it in the gear? i really can't see to much in there. the motor works fine-for now how do i start the process of removing and replacing? have you done this work yourself? Thanks again for the help much respect regards John |

its a breeze, I do them all the time,
basically you need a philips screwdriver and eight mm socket and a t30. take the screws out the door, there are seven, pull off the door trim and then pull off the plastic underneath, take out the eight bolts and take off the connector on the motor, then push up the window and pull out the regulator and take off the old motor and reinstall all parts.
