Default Drivers Side Window

This morning I lowered the drivers window to deposit some mail and the window just kept going! It went down, made some clicking noises and failed to go back up. I can hear the motor run when I press the window switch. Sounds like something mechanically disconnected. Is it difficult to remove the door panels and is this something that could be re-connected by a do it yourselfer?

Thank goodness the weather is not that bad today.

Regulator is broke. There is a wheel in there that snaps off.

Pull off the door panel
Pull back the plastic sound deadner
Unscrew the regulator (4 8mm bolts)
Unscrew the track in the window
Get the corret size steel washer where the center hole is slightly smaller than the stud on the regulator. But, make sure the diameter is big enough to fit the window track.
Lay the regulator in the ground, and hammer the washer onto the stud.
Once the washer is on, flatin the stud back out so the washer cannot come off.
Grease up the track and re-install.

$ 0.10 fix

Hank: Thanks! Sounds like an arm popped off a stud. Hope it goes as easily as it sounds.

Hi,
If you can do it your self it will save you a few bucks. My 2003 Discovery did exactly the same, it was 11pm when mine went, I had to take the door panel off and physically lift the window up while pressing the up button on the window switch, it did pick the glass up and shut it closed, I rang the main dealer who fitted a new actuator and it cost me £235.

Good luck

Phil

Cheers, I have found whats left of the plastic wheel in the bottom of the door now. Got side tracked with work so will have to have a close look in the morning, where abouts "was" it situated!!!
