So I pulled the front driveshaft last night, and gave it a quick look over. Can someone tell me how many balancing weights are on the front shaft? Mine has one on the forward end of the shaft, but it looks like there should be two more (one about center and one at the rear of the shaft).
Thanks, Chris |

weight is computer balanced and needs to be tack welded on.
if it comes off you need to have it rebalanced by driveshaft shop. or else a vibration.

If it was balanced properly, there should be no weights. Where I get mine done they actually take out any bends, etc out of the shaft and this usually makes weights unnecessary.

Look for a driveline shop, that is where I took mine for balancing. They can also replace your joints if you want them to, or you could do it yourself and have them just balance. I should have mine back today.
It only takes an hour or two. Chris |

I got my driveshaft back today. The driveline shop replaced my double carden and balanced the shaft( I did loose a weight) for 52 bucks, I supplied the parts. I had already changed the front u joint, but when I noticed that it looked like I lost a weight I decided to let the shop change the Double C.
Buy anyway, all back in and no vibration and I don't have to worry about it exploding and taking anything else not. The hardest part was finding replacement nuts and bolts. If you don't order new ones go to a big hardware store. They were 3/8 by 24 at 1 1/4 inches long if I remember right. Thanks for all the help Chris ![]() |
