Need help diagnosing a problem with my right rear air shock. It seems to be an intermittent problem, most prevalent when the temperature drops, so I suspect it isn't an issue with a hole in the air shock. More often than not, the right rear shock will drop all air and droop the back corner all the way down. Really wrecks the ride too!
For awhile, when it wasn't quite so cold, it would fill up from empty (just that corner if it hadn't held before) and then dump air when it filled to the top. Other times, it would hold the air. Sometimes the air dumps when the truck is shut off, but when it is cold like right now, it just sits down. Any suggestions on what might be causing this problem would be appreciated. Would really like to get it fixed up before the weather gets any worse up here! Thanks. |

How many miles on your truck?
Most likely your air bag is leaking. Cold will effect how and when they may leak more. There is a slight possibility that you may have a bad height switch also. I would suggest you crawl under the truck with a spray bottle of soapy water, spray the bag and check for leaks. If you don't find any, you'll need to get it to the dealer and have then scan the system for faults. If it turns out to be a leaking bag, don't buy new ones from Rover, there is a company in Florida that makes a far better replacement with a lifetime warranty for far less$$$$. Mike |

Sure,
http://www.arnottindustries.com/ They are by far the best thing going for air bags. I have talked with a number of people who are using them and they are very please. Nice thing, it only takes about 30 minutes to replace them out on the driveway. Mike |

Thanks for the suggestion. I will try it as soon as the temperature gets above freezing! It just seemed odd to me that it was so intermittent, but it is easy to rule out with some soapy water! BTW, it is a 2001 Disco II with 48000 miles on it.

You can also check www.roversland.com
They usually stock used air bags and height sensors and their prices aren't bad at all. Carlos |

Dan,
Although it is great to have options, I will personally drive back there and burn your truck if you put used air bags on her. Old bags can last a week or a year and drop and the worst time. Mike |

Don't worry, I won't buy used. I really like the idea of keeping the SLS even after the lift. Right now I have 2 spares (given to me) and I always carry 1 with me. When the time comes, I will go with ARNOTT. The idea of a lifetime warranty rocks. Peace, Dan
