I need a new rad for my 2001 Disco II. They seem to run around $600 USD from most suppliers. I noticed a couple of folks on Ebay that are selling them for about $289. Does anyone know anything about the quality and fit of these radiators? Anyone had any experiences with them?

i can't remember where those come from, but it's some third world country... an example of 'get what you pay for' BUT They do work. I know of several shops who buy those wholesale for under $200 and mark them up to $699 and the customers don't ever know it. From what I've heard, they work- but longevity probably won't be there.

While it didn't come off of ebay, we put a "third world" radiator in one of our rovers, It came from RN, with their 'Pro-Line' name, but the box was marked with the country of origin. The fit was exact, the construction, from a good external lookover, was first rate. Surprised it should look so much like a "Genuine" ? Well, don't be. That 'third world' supplier who made it has another, bigger customer; Land Rover, as in Solihull, W'kshire, UK

Terry;
Not being in the US, not familiar with RN and the ProLine parts. Is this a national supplier and do they have a website? Appreciate any leads, as everyone I speak to up here says LR is the only source and their quote of $884 Cdn (approx $760 US) seems a bit hight for a rad that only lasted 4 years from factory install. By the way - not surprised that the supplier of these "aftermarket" parts may have supplied other well known manufacturers! |

The ones I saw were definately not an OEM supplier- "ProLine" is just a fake brand name to use to make generic parts seem less generic. Lots of the OEM stuff comes from strange places, but that doesn't mean that all stuff from strange places is OEM.

Couldn't do it - couldn't cheap out on something as critical as the rad. Ordered a replacement from Atlantic British today. Will still end up saving close to $200 vs the stealer supplied part and that is paying shipping as well. I figure that, with a business that is so much relying on reputation, they must supply quality parts. BTW - rad was about $50 cheaper than RN and I get a free shirt! Bonus.
Thanks for everyone's help and direction. |

Is it a real Land Rover part though? They sell different types from different sources. I tried to install one of theirs that was supposed to be a "one radiator fits all" and it was way off. If not specified as OEM or Genuine, it's likely the same one you were avoiding.

I noticed that RN has raised the price on the Proline rad since I bought mine last year. Mine doesnt leak, fits perfect, and NEVER overheats. I love it, even if it is from the U.A.E...

The really really cheap ones aren't from U.A.E. - it was Thailand or some other strange place.
