Default electric window

Could anyone help
The passenger window makes a loud cracking noise some times when I shut it, it sounds like plastic creaking when it nips up tight at the top. I had a new regulator replaced in the driver’s door recently but when that broke it went down into the door and cluncked. I don't want another big bill if I can help it these things aren't cheap when they go.
Is it possible to be repaired before it gets worse and breaks or is it something that just gets replaced when its gone.

Thanks in advance.

Did the dealer replace the window regulator, if so you have a year parts and labor warranty. If a private shop replaced it, they should be able to get the part replaced from Rover and then you and the shop will need to haggle over the labor.

I don't have a solution, but I'm in the same boat. Passenger window in my 03 SE7 "thunks" when it closes. I haven't got adventurous yet to see what the issue might be. I'm close to my next service interval and will have the dealer look at it then if it's not something completely obvious to me.

I'll be watching this thread with you.

Thanks Mike
The window regulator in the drivers door the dealer replaced is fine its the passenger door window that makes the noise. I read in one of the threads that a guy had a poping noise on one of his windows and he had some parts replaced, bearings or seals, somthing like that.

I had that happen in my '04. It would only do it when I rolled the window all the way down and all the way up. The dealer fixed it Under Warranty. They said it was a worn out bushing.

I have the same issue on my driver side window. Sometimes the window moves normally, other times it pops/cracks really loud or even gets stuck. I opened the door a while ago and noticed that the roller (made of plastic) that runs in the slider is broken. The metal shaft of what remains is now the "roller" in the slider.
I plan on having it fixed by a dealer soon as the extended warantee covers it.

Default Electric Window noise

My 96 Lr passenger side window makes funny noises when rolling it up. Sounds like it needs some oil. Will it hurt to oil the thing or will that make matters worse?

Oil won't help it, the plastic roller on the regulator is probably about to break, don't use it till you can afford to replace the regulator.

Thanks. Can I replace this myself or will I need to get a mechanic at a dealer or other location to do this?
