I have it in mine (early 01), but...had a well known LR shop (Not dealer), here do the reach under/push a fabbed up linkage thing for me for about 100.00. Works fine for now. But I keep a old throw rug around when it's real wet/muddy/snowy to kneel on. You notice the difference.

My hope is to find an okay 04 someday. Or do the D1 linkage thing.

Mr. Petersen
It was bought because I needed something with room for the family and wanted something 4WD or AWD. I really like the Discos. I traded my Tacoma in on it that I took offroad at times. The Discovery may see some offroad action, but that is not its primary use (at least not now). When I decided on the Disco, I did want something that was offroad capable and that would be good for winter driving. The winter driving part is important because my drive to work is about 1 hour one way in good weather. If the weather turns bad, it should get me there with some carefull driving.

Neo,
Trust me, a D2 can handle anything, within reason, for you and your wife, and the CDL justs adds to it's ability.

Mike,
I believe it will be all I need and more. Just got out from under it, and I am in luck. It has the cdl. It doesn't look like much fun engaging it without some kind off linkage. May have to check into a linkage setup in the future. I am very pleased knowing that I have that option. Again, thanks for the help and the pic.

If it is an 03, you can't have a CDL, unless someone replaced the t/case before you bought it.
Have you reached up and actually felt the plate as well as the nipple?
Don't get me wrong, it would be great if some one changed it out before you bought it, now the adventures on and off road have just grown.

Mike,
Was that last reply to me. Mine is the 2001. Fiach has the 2003. No, I didn't feel the plate or nipple. The exhaust was still hot. I actually used a small mirror and flash light to look back in there. It was a little awkward, but it was better than getting burnt on the exhaust.

Neo1975, just giving you a little crap. The disco is a great truck and I am taking it you have a 7. I traded in my 2000 and got a 2007 Ford sport track, that lasted about 6mounths, sold the piece of crap and got a 2004 SE7 for the room and it a great truck.

No problem Mr. Petersen. You sound like an offroad enthusiast. That is a good thing in my opinion.

Not to revive a dead thread but I bought a used 03 and the owners manual makes it look like CDL was an option. Maybe they gave me an 04 manual.

Anyway, I bought it with some light off-roading in mind but I know eventually it will start seeing more serious stuff. From what I'm reading it looks like I could just buy a used 04 xfer case and drop that in?
