Default Engine flush!

Does anyone use an engine flush prior to changing their oil? I was told not to use it because it drys out gasgets and rings. I used it on my VW Jetta every time I changed the oil and never had a problem. Does anyone have any word on this subject.

Bird,
I'd say don't do it. From what I've read about these products, they are mostly kerosene, something that's not good for your engine.

Now, if you want to do something less invasive, consider running a nice diesel oil for a "flush". I run Shell Rotella or Chevron Delo all the time in my series truck, and for a Disco, a synth 5w40 might be more appropriate than the 15w40 I run. But, the added detergent package in diesel oils should help to clean up your engine a bit...
