Default Engine pics anyone?? Newbie here

Hello D2 owners...
Today is my first day in the forum, and I will copy over my intro from the welcome thread of LRO. Due to the need for a service manual and not having the resource readily available, I could really use some good pics of multiple shots of a Discovery II (2001 model in this case) so I can know what I am getting into and how I should prepare. For a bit of background, read the following intro, and you will have a better understanding of where I am... Thanks all for the read, and any and all help is GREATLY appreciated...

--------
My name is Michael and I am a Land Rover junkie with NO land rover experience. I am shopping for my first buy right now, and I am a very avid DIY'er. i have worked on many cars and consider myself very experienced in the area. As I am shopping, a friend of mine comes to me with need of assistance. She has a Discovery 2 (2001) that has loss of power amongst other probs. Although she had already done this before talking with me, she went to a local firestone to help diagnose with SES lights showing (not sure whether CES or SES light was showing, and apparently not blinking). I am not sure of mileage, but am told she wants me to do her tune-up for her, and will prob have a muffler shop deal with a cat. prob she is having. I have not even test driven the vehicle, so I am really going off her ideas and thoughts and the codes that Firestone read. I do not have the traditional code numbers I am seeing being displayed on this site (ie: 0305, etc etc... is this the OBDII code reader?). It would be great if I could get my hands on a service manual for back-up. Upon searching, the only thing I have come across is the RAVE CD and perhaps some GTS online package that can be bought. Am I on the wrong track for service manual here, or is there an easier method to obtaining one? I am surprised you guys do not have a free online copy running around.... maybe there is that I have yet to find... Regarding wires, magnecor 8 mm? People seem happy with these.. With semi-small hands (but not really), maybe I can do this without replacing the intake gasket or even removal of it. Oh yes, regarding the magnecors, I heard there is not a porcelain cap on these, which has caused "cap-snap" issues... experience or ever heard of this? I am really looking for any advice you can give in my situation. SHe potentially has a MAF failure as well due to the fact that Firestone reported a 4th gear tranny code and , for some reason, "multiple codes stored in memory from mass air sensors being repeatedly unplugged/replugged"... hmmm....

i guess I am looking for a bit of vehicle history and/or help to insure my work is done correctly.. you know, those tidbits of info that make it a professional job.. If there is anybody better or more apt to answer these questions, or give me another resource for questioning, please let me know, or forward this along... Thanks Elemental..

give me the codes and I will diagnose your problems.

oh if you ever do a tuneup, or gasket job, heres a trick, take a picture of the entire engine so you can put everything back correctly at the end. trust me I still do it.

The OEM wires don't hold up as well as the Magnacor wires, which come with a lifetime warranty and cost apx. 1/2 that of factory wires.

Go to The Green Oval - Home, follow the download links to RAVE and select the one for the truck of interest (DII). Follow their directions on how to make it go and you'll be in like Flynn.
